lack of power

the engine has power and sometime loses power every now and then like if it runs on eight cylinders then six and a sound come one side of the engine clicking sound maybe valve sticking? thank you

It probably needs a tune up. At least new spark plugs and wires. If you open the hood when it is really dark out and start it, you might see a spark jumping on that side of the engine. That is a sign that you need a tune up.
