Knocking sounds coming from Engine

Was driving down the road and all of a sudden the car started making a knocking noise sounding like a diesel does and the voltage light came on then lost power completely and is now making a loud knocking noise that sometimes starts a mile down the road then other times it won't go more than like 15-20 ft before it shuts off. So far checked the catalytic converters their fine replaced spark plugs, used a gas treatment and sea foam to clean out any water, and replaced camshaft sensor so now trying to figure out if it could be the knock sensor
