Knocking noise rod barring

It makes a knocking noise not sure where it's coming from friend says I blew a rod

Where's is it coming from lower or upper end of the engine

if it's a rod knock sort out each cylinder one at a time as you disconnect spark plug wire the knocking should go away if it's a rod or piston. an upper end sound will be more of a ticking/light knock.
