So we changed the oil cooler because there was no boost on the turbo. We changed the actuator. The pollution light was on from when I bought it so we replaced the EGR. But before the EGR replacement was driving and the engine just cut out on me managed to get it home and change the EGR. But after that the van is losing power thinking maybe that the catalytic converters blocked which they are sorting. Today just dunno what the clunking noise is hoping it's not internal it sounds like metal on metal. But only happens sometimes when you rev and clutch isn't engaged, so it's not needing a new clutch.
Confused. Com is an understatement.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Does the sound seem to be coming from the engine compartment area or under the vehicle? Also, a catalytic converter can come apart internally and rattle. If you take a rubber mallet and tap on the exhaust system, it may help you identify if the converter is the issue.

Here are a few links about the converter, symptoms of a bad one, how to test one, and in general how one is replaced.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Welcome back:

When you say the intake needs cleaned, can you explain exactly what you mean. They make products that will clean it while running.

Let me know.

Welcome back:

If it is extremely dirty, it could cause issues. However, if it was truly clogged, it wouldn't run. Was any guarantee provided if it doesn't repair the issue?

No guarantee was provided because it's a friend of the family who's a mechanic who's giving me the diagnosis.I just don't understand, it runs okay other than the flat points in the gears and then I'll be driving and it just cuts out on me, then after a few minutes of me sitting there it will start and carry on just like it never had a problem.

Welcome back:

I don't see how that is going to cause a knocking noise. Also, based on what you are saying, it sounds like a weak fuel pump that is starving the engine for fuel.

It's tough not being there to hear and see what is happening. I hope you understand.
