Knocking noise

Loud knocking noise when accelerate oil light came on my husband put four quarts of oil in the car the knocking noise still is there, but only I push on the accelerate when in park and i driven my car around the block no noise have gone over forty five mph.

Have a mechanic check this for a bearing problem or maybe a loose torque converter. four quarts of oil to add is way too much to put in without an oil change and may have damaged the bearings.

Was on the way to get in change and the car died had it towed to pep boys and they said it's my engine and it need to be replaced. Should I get a second opinion?

nope don't think so from your first description it needs a motor due to having to add 4 quarts of oil so you ran the engine dry of oil, and it wore the bearings out
