I have recently encountered a check engine light assuming it was a possible maintenance issue turns out it’s a faulty camshaft position sensor. Wondering if that’s what was causes the mild knocking/clicking when braking or making a turn.

This is common when a timing chain guide brakes. To be sure can you please shoot a quick video with your phone so we can hear the noise? That would be great. You can upload it here with your response.
