My car's engine is making some louder than normal noise. I am not at all good with cars and I would not want to get screwed over for not understanding what they are recommending me to change if I just blindly bring my car in.

Hopefully you can help in identifying the possible cause of the sound in the video below.

I have also just experienced a bit of knocking when I am driving up the three-story parking ramp to my apartment so there is that as well.

Acceleration has been a bit heavier as well, meaning that it takes a firmer press on the pedal to get the car up to speed.

I have noticed that the RPM idle at 1300~1500 RPM from a cold start; prior to battery issue, it was about 700~800 RPM from cold start.

Details of the car:
Year of Manufacture: 2015
Date Purchased: 1-Sep-15
Current Mileage (KM @ Miles): 30,900 @ 19,200
Driven mostly on highways since receiving it.

Hello MORREVO,

Thanks for the video, it really helps. One of two things has happened, either the engine is extremely low on oil or the ac compressor is having a problem. Can you check the oil level and turn the air conditioner off, please get back to me.

Also I would remove the serpentine belt and restart the engine to make sure it not an accessory as well.

Best, Ken

Hi Ken,

The engine oil is showing to be at normal levels. The video was taken with the AC off (I had just reached home at the time). I believe a breakdown of my driving pattern would probably help further.

0600 - Leave the house and drive for 15 minutes on the highway (no congestion) to work at 80 110 km/h
1630 - Leave office and drive for 30 minutes to a different town via highway (no congestion) at 80 110 km/h
1745 - Leave for home and drive for 45 minutes via highway (moderate to heavy congestion) at 40 100 km/h
1900 - Arrive at home and drive up ramp for 3 stories

If you need to know anything else, please let me know.

Thank you for your time!

Sure no problem, when is the last time you changed the oil? It could be the oil is broken down, it definitely sounds like a oiling problem to the top end of the engine.

Hi Ken,

I sent the car for servicing a week ago and I did tell them about the issue and they said that they'd take a look at it. Mind you, this was an authorised Honda workshop/dealer.

I took back my car the next day because they said that they'd need to keep it overnight to check. At first it was smooth and quiet like normal but then it started again. With work and all, I can't really seem to find the time to go back and tell them.

The oil that I've asked them to use since my first service is the 0W-30. I have not tried to remove the serpentine belt to check. I'll try it out tomorrow. Like I said in my first post, this is so that I can use car talk to tell the service center what to test for to see if anything is wrong. To a novice and first time owner like me, there does seem to be something wrong.

O yes the engine is having a problem from what I heard in the video. If I had to guess sounds like the oil pump is going out if the engine is full of oil.
