My engine temperature rose from 210 to 240 and back to 210. Today it rose from 210 to 260. And the engine coolant hot warning came on. The temperature went back to 210. Then check engine light came on. Then I checked the code and it said p0332 knock sensor.

Hi,

Is the engine coolant clean and full? That is what the temperature issue sounds like it is related to. Do me a favor. When the engine is cold, remove the radiator cap and check the radiator level and not just the coolant reservoir. Make sure it is full. Also, if it is low on coolant, the heater will likely not work properly, so try that as well.

Now for the knock sensor, it may be related to the temperature issue. The KS system determines that excessive knock is present which can be caused by how the engine is running due to it overheating. Let's determine what is causing the temperature spikes first. I have a feeling once that is resolved, the knock sensor issue will go away.

One last thought. The control module records the operating conditions at the time the diagnostic fails. If you have freeze frame data on your scan tool, see if it happened while overheating.

Let me know.

Take care,

joe
