Parked car sat for 3 years. Ran good when parked. Fired up to start driving again and started ran strong but have loud knocking noise now. Changed oil but still knocking. Wasn't knocking when parked, now knocking after 3 years of sitting. What could be causing this?

Hi,

It could be several things. For example, there could be a belt-driven accessory that has a bad bearing. On the other hand, it could be related to the engine or transmission.

If possible, record the sound and upload it for me to hear. Also, here is a link that reviews engine sounds. Take a look through it and see if anything mirrors what you are experiencing.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care and God Bless,

Joe
