Diagnostics says o2 sensor needs replacing. However the pipe between the engine and converter glows cherry red. No doubt this is the cause of the o2 sensor going bad. How can I tell if the catalytic converter is stopped up?

There would be a VERY big reduction in performance. To test hook vacuum gague to intake manifold rev. engine up to 2000rpms if vacuum falls towards 0 then CAT pluged up. Also over rich fuel mix can cause glow and O2 failure
