2004 Kia Spectra 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 105XXX miles

I just bought this car about a month ago. When I bought it I was told it had a "surge" but that it wasn't much concern. That all it was the "computer" and it was an easy fix (note: I was told this buy the owner, so I don't know how valid this is.) What this "surge" is is when you are driving, you will be moving at a constant speed and the car will just suddenly lose power, and begin to slow down, all while your foot is still on the pedal. Then, if you remove your foot completely for about five seconds, and push the pedal in once more, it picks up speed again. And before it does this, the car will shake. The new thing its been doing lately is dying. It has died while I've been idling and while I've been driving. It seems to do this most often when I fill the tank and/or have my a/c or heat on for a period of time.

PLEASE HELP! I don't know what the potential problem could be.

Sounds like it could be a bad fuel pressure regulator.
