2003 Kia Spectra Help! I don't want to get taken....

My Kia just started sounding like it needs a new muffler - it is roaring and sounds like a race car...It is so loud I can't drive it. Strange thing is, the sound comes from under the front I think. A friend of mine said it may be a front exhaust pipe.....do you think this is the case, and can you give me a rough estimate a garage would charge me to get this done?

Could be the donut between the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe or at the exhaust manifold where its leaking try to identify where the noise is.
