Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Temporarily loosen the water pump pulley bolts, 1.6L (VIN 3) engine only.
Remove the front air intake inlet pipe bolts, 1.8L engine only.
Remove the top hose from the air intake inlet pipe, 1.8L engine only.
Remove the air intake inlet pipe clamp and the pipe, 1.8L engine only.
Remove the power steering pump, 2.0L engine only.
Remove the power steering pump bracket, 2.0L engine only.
Remove the alternator B terminal cover cap.
Disconnect the alternator electrical connections.
Loosen, but do not remove the alternator pivot bolt and the tensioner mounting bolt.
Remove the drive belt(s); relieve tension on the belt by rotating the adjustment bolt.
Remove the water pump pulley, 1.6L (VIN 3) engine only.
Remove the power steering pump, 1.6L (VIN 3) engine only.
Remove the power steering pump bracket, 1.6L (VIN 3) engine only.
Remove the alternator tensioner mounting bolt and the belt tensioner.

Loosen the bolt at the base of the adjusting bracket and rotate the bracket up.

Hi, I changed my alternator yesterday on this car. If you just remove the fuel filler after it is all disconnected it will come out through the top. You just have to rotate it after it is all disconnected.
