2002 Kia Spectra Oil

2002 Kia Spectra

When I pulled out my spark plugs today to change them they we're covered in oil. I could see oil in the shaft & ther is oil covering the front part of engine. Back part of engine is dry. Any clue as to what could be going on? Could it be something with the engine?

start by having the valve covers gaskets checked/replaced
