Diagnostic trouble code No. P1404 Leak detection module solenoid vlave circuit malfunction
[Related items] 1) Open or short to ground between leakage detection detection heater and ECM.
2) Short to battery between leakage detection heater and ECM.
3) Faulty or damaged leakage detection heater in diagnostic module tank leakage (DMTL).
Step Inspection Action
1 Ignition OFF and disconnect DMTL connector. Ignition ON, measure voltageof DMTL battery power circuit between DMTL harness connector and chassis ground.
 Specifications: approximately B+
Is voltage within specification? Yes Go to step 2.
No Open circuit or short circuit to chassis ground between DMTL harness connector and main relay.
Repair as necessary.
2 Turn ignition to OFF and disconnect ECM connector.
And DMTL connector. Measure resistance of DMTL harness valve circuit between DMTL harness connector and eCM harness connector.
 Specifications : below 1à †Â
Does resistnace indicate continuity circuit? Yes Go to step 3.
No Open circuit between DMTL harness connector and ECM harness connector.
Repair as necessary.
3 Measure resistance between DMTL harness connector and chassis ground at DMTL harness valve circuit
 Specifications : below 1à †Â
Does resistnace indicate open circuit? Yes Go to step 4.
No Short circuit to chassis ground between DMTL harness connector and ECM harness connector.
Repair as necessary.
4 Ignition OFF and remove DMTL.
Apply battery voltage to DMTL battery terminal and ground to DMTL heater terminal for 10 20 minutes (Current : 0.3A).
Verify that DMTL temperature increases.
 Specifications : approximately 31à † @ 20 °C (68 °F)
Is resistance within specification? Yes Thoroughly check DMTL for loose, poor connection, bent, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
No Temporarily install a known good DMTL and check for proper operation.
If problem is corrected, replace DMTL
5 Return vehicle to original condition. Clear all diagnostic trouble codes. Verify by driving vehicle with SCAN TOOL connected and monitor for pendingcodes
