2006 Kia Sorento emission control light

Engine Performance problem
2006 Kia Sorento 4 cyl Automatic 73000 miles

My car is driving fine except when you get above 2 rpms it doesn't have any more "pick up" left. It takes forever to get to 70 after I noticed it the emissions control light came on? What is wrong with my car? I need to take it in the shop but is it ok to drive at all?

If the check engine light has come on, there will be a trouble code stored in the computer. Take it to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for codes. Most will do it for free, so there is no money out of pocket.

Let me know what code they find.
