2001 Kia Sophia temperature gauge show heat then no heat

Radiator is cold no pressure built up, what could be the problem.

ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE

Disconnect temperature gauge sending unit connector. Using a fused jumper wire, ground engine coolant temperature sensor Brown/Yellow wire. If coolant temperature gauge reads hot, go to next step. If coolant temperature gauge does not read hot, check for short or open in engine coolant temperature gauge wiring harness.
Remove engine coolant temperature sensor. Place sensor into a heated container of water. Use ohmmeter to measure resistance from engine coolant temperature sensor terminal to sensor body. Resistance should be 180-200 ohms at 122 °F (50 °C). If resistance is incorrect, replace sensor
