I just changed the rear drum brakes on my mini van and now the parking brake does not seem to work. I have tightened the cable under the car and I was wondering if there is anything else I can do before I take the drums back off and check them out. I really don't want to take the drums off again.

Hi there,

you should back off the park brake adjustment and then make sure that the foot brakes are adjusted correctly, then do the hand brake adjustment, make sure that the cables are free to move and that they are actuating the shoe lever,

I went ahead and took the drums back of and verified that the brake were in fact actuating with the foot pedal and the parking brake. So I adjusted the "self adjusting actuator" and now my parking brake works, and I don't have to push as hard on my foot pedal.
