2003 kia sedona 104000k miles. At idle with foot on break rpms race. Also a rattling noise on start up which goes away after a few minutes. Also loss in acceleration. Is this a timing belt problem?

Honestly, what you described sounds like a catylatic converter problem. The internal parts in the converter come loose, rattle then block the exhaust. I would check that first. When the engine is cold, take a rubber mallot and tap on the converter. Listen for something ratteling inside. If you hear it, replace it.

Let me know what you find.
