Engine Mechanical problem
2005 Kia Rio 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

Dear sir/madam,

I’ve a problem with my Kia Rio LS engine:

Suddenly, the engine had locked with white smoke coming out from the Exhaust. When I opened the engine, found that 1st Connecting rod ( on first stroke) is slanted and deformed. Also cylinder #1, #2, #3 had some oil in them.

It seems that accumulation of oil at cylinder #1 causes the stroke to be locked before top position and then causes the connection rod to be slanted.
1st question: is the above theory True?
2nd question: what cause the oil to be pumped to the cylinders through Manifold ( I found that the oil is pumped Through the Manifold! Because this path was oily and cylinder head and it's washer had no problem).

I’m concerned that if I change the damaged parts and fix the engine, the problem will occur again
Please guide me.

And another thing. Before the problem, my car was parked on a high horizontal slope and engine was turned on, May this cause the oil to be passed to the manifold!

sp thanks’

Actually, it sounds like you have a bad headgasket. The white smoke indicates there was coolant getting into the combustion chamber. This brings me to your theory. If too much coolant (or oil) was to get into the cylender, unlike air, a liquid can't be compressed. As a result, you bent a connecting rod.

Replace the bad parts, have the head checked, and it should be fine.

Let me know if you have other questions.
