2002 Kia Rio speedometer and milage

2002 Kia Rio Two Wheel Drive Manual 70000 miles

Ive just got a Kia Rio and the Speedometer is not working or the milage counter is not counting. I need to know how to fix this problem. Also how to get to the Speedometer??

Most of the time the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) sends signal to the computer, which in turn tells the speedo/odo what to read. Your best bet will be to have it put on a scanner to see if the PCM (computer) is getting the signal from the VSS, then we can go from there, might not be a problem with the instruments, but need to be sure the other end is working first
