I have a 1996 Kia Sephia. When I press on the brakes there is a squeaky sound. Does that mean I need my brake pads changed? I don't want to spend the money if I don't really have to. thanks in advance.

First you have to say where the squeek is coming from; inside near the pedal, outside, front or back, when you press or release the brake or constantly when driving....
You should always have a professionel check your brakes as they are the most important thing on your vehicle. A little hint...don't be afraid to ask questions or to ask if the mechanic or service man could explain what needs to be done and show you on your own car why.
If you get an answew like "their finished" and no more of an explanation like that I suggest finding another garage.
