2005 Kia Optima High RPM's

2005 KIA OPTIMA
135,000 MILES • 4 CYL • FWD • AUTOMATIC

Our 2005 Optima has developed a high rpm @ all times. When it's idling, it is between 3000 and 4000 rpms. When in gear, you are stopped, you have to keep a heavy foot on the brake to prevent moving forward.

Have you checked the throttle cable to make sure nothing is sticking? Also, it could deal with an idle air control valve. Has the check engine light come on?
