2004 Kia Optima starting

2004 Kia Optima 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

i have a 2004 kia optima this moring the battery light came on and shortly after the abs light came on then the car died i jumped it,it started right up drove it about ten miles and it died again,got it home thinking it was the alt,then i noticed the postive cable had sut on it i cleaned it up,and now it just clicks,starter problem?any help would be good

cleaning the battery terminals was a great idea but I think its to late you need an alternator
charge the battery and start than check charging system
I would suspect a bad alternator

i went out and bought a new battery i checked the alt and all the wires and they are good and the alt is working,so then i checked the starter and all the wireing still the same thing,so what does that leave ?the computer? thanks

Start the engine check battery volts before and after starting the engine
check fuses
check for battery power at the big wire at the alternator
if all ok and volts low suspect a bad alternator
