2002 Kia Optima transmission shifting and engine lite comin

While driving, occassinally the transmission will like shift to low gear and the check engine lite will come on. After shutting the motor off, then starting it back up, the check engine lite goes out and the transmission shifts ok. What would cause this and what can I do to fix this?

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.
