I have been trying to get my van through emissions for a year now, with no success.
It started with the check engine light, so I have the codes checked. The first code was PO431 and secondary was PO455; So, I had all three cats replaced and all 4 O2 sensors. Now I got code PO466, so I had the purge valve and the vent valve replaced. Checked all the hoses, the gas cap and the check engine light goes out for a little while and pops back on. The vehicle has been rejected at the DMV twice.
Can you please, please help?

Hi,

Which code or codes return when the check engine light turns on? Also, interestingly, code P0466 isn't listed in my manual for this year/model Kia. Please confirm that is what is present.

Let me know.

The first code test came up with PO431, so I replaced the cats and the sensors. The second code was PO455, so I replaced the purge valve and those codes disappeared. The third code was PO446, I apologize for the fubar on the po466 earlier. This vehicle is beating to no end. Anyways PO446 showed up so I replaced the vent valve, but it's still on the last code after the drive cycle.

Hi,

No problem. The P0446 makes sense now. LOL, this code doesn't necessarily indicate the control valve is bad. It indicates a fault in the circuit. It could be a wiring issue, a module issue, or even a partially plugged canister filter.

Do me a favor. I attached diagnostics below. Take a look through them and let me know if you are comfortable performing them.

Take care,

Joe
