If you entered your own code but forgot it or you bought the car and don't know the code, you will need to visit a dealer. Provide them with proof of ownership and ID and they will hook up to the car and reset it to the OEM default. There is no other way without being able to run the VIN and get the original code through Ford. That prevents someone from just running a scan and getting the code to steal the vehicle or contents.

I just want the default code, what other options are there besides taking it to the dealership?

If you don't know the default 5 digit code or have the card that came in the owners manual from the factory there are not many options. On the earlier model years they had the code printed on stickers that were attached to either the SJB or the RAP modules. They stopped doing that in 2010. From then on you need a scan tool and security access to read the code from the module.

There are several YouTube's on this. You remove the center console and the default code is printed on the sticker on a module box. You don't need to use any scan tools or take it to the dealer. This worked for my on my 2011 Mariner.
