Key will not turn to off position

My key will turn the engine off but it will not go back to the off position. So I have to take a battery cable off when I am somewhere too long so I do not drain my battery.

See if tilting the column to different positions helps to make the key move.

Until you get it right, one of these could really be your buddy.

Picture below is for a "Top Post" battery, you can also get one for a "Side Post" battery at an auto parts store.

I have a similar set up on my Jeep, Mine is there so that I can drain the battery to work on it. But mostly for in the event (it rarely happens) that my solenoid hangs up (and the starter cranks endlessly/ wires overheat/ etc.) I can quickly drain the battery with no tools needed.
