Key will not turn?

Hi,
When you press the brake pedal, does it go to the floor? Also, was there any indication of a problem starting when it comes to the ignition key? I'm struggling to see how they could be related.
Let me know. Also, I suspect the key is locked in the off position. However, let me know if anything electrical is working. For example, are the headlamps working?
