Key will not engage starter

Had to replace shifter tube and pin in steering column. Now key is hard to turn and wont engage starter.

I just want to make sure we are on the same page. Take a look at this attachment. Is this what you replaced? The shift lever and lever pin?

If so, if the key is hard to turn then before we get too far, we need to take it back apart and make sure things are installed properly. I suspect the shroud around the key is the issue because this is really the only thing that is related to this process.

No that isn't what I replaced. I replaced the shift tube and pin.

Okay. I am with you now. Clearly these don't directly effect the ignition switch turning capability so I would suggest just taking the cover back off and try turning it. Worst case remove the switch cylinder and reinstall it.

I don't think it has anything to do with the parts you replaced. I think it has to do with something you did while putting it back in. Does that make sense?
