IT COULD BE IN THE COLUMN LINKAGES
COULD BE THE KEY LOCK CYLINDER
. OR IT COULD BE THE IGNITION SWITCH. WON'T SLIDE (DAMAGED)
I'M SENDING SOME "TYPICAL PICS". THEY ARE PRETTY MUCH SIMILAR. THIS 1ST SWITCH PICS ARE MY '77 CJ 5 (ONE BUSTED OPEN TO SEE INSIDE. AND THE TRUCK COLUMN WE'RE LOOKING AT IS AN '88 F100 (DROPPED A LITTLE FOR THE PICS) IT'S A LITTLE BIT OF A PAIN, BUT I CAN CHANGE ONE OUT WITHOUT DROPPING THE COLUMN. THE LAST ONE IS MY CJ 5 COLUMN, REMOVING THE 2 SMALL BOLTS THAT HOLD IT ON
NOTE. THE "L" SHAPED ROD THAT ORIGINATES IN THE LINKAGES FROM THE KEY LOCK CYLINDER AND DROPS INTO THE IGNITION SWITCH TO MAKE IT SLIDE. THE SLIDING MATES UP DIFFERENT WIRES. ACCESSORIES/ ON/ START IS AT THE END, AND SPRING LOADED. SEEN IN THE PIC THAT I BUSTED AN OLD ONE OPEN
IF THE IGN SWITCH "JAMS". THE "L" SHAPED ROD CANNOT MOVE. THE LOCK CYLINDER CAN'T EITHER
YOU CAN SEE THE "L" SHAPED ROD LAYING ON THE COLUMN IN PIC 5. IN PIC 6 THE ROD IS UNDER THE SWITCH MATED UP IN THE HOLE (THAT YOU SAW IN PIC 5) THIS IS HOW IT NORMALLY LOOKS
. SOMETIMES IF YOU REALLY MESS UP MOUNTING THE SWITCH. YOU MIGHT PINCH THE ROD. IT MAY NOT MOVE
. THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE SWITCH IN ARE IN ELONGATED HOLES, IF YOU MESS UP MOUNTING IT, YOU MAY BE TOO FAR FORWARD OR REARWARD. THE SWITCH WILL NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY OR WILL SORTA BE IN THE WRONG "IGNITION POSITION"
WHATCHU THINK?
