Hello,

This is most likely a problem with the shift-lock cable that goes from the shifter to the ignition switch. If the cable wears out it will not push the lock into place. Remove the shift cover to check its operation. Here is some diagram to help you get the problem fixed.

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

Thank you. The brace for the cable going into the ignition switch had lost the screw holding the cable secure. Screwed back on and now the cable is working like designed and my problem is fixed.

Again thank you!

Try jamming the shifter into low gear then into park, kind of fast and see if the key comes out. Check back to us

Can not remove key. The engine starts, runs & shut off properly, but the key won't turn far enough to release & pull out.
Checked all fuses & relays, power down the computer, all to no avail.

I have the same problem in mine. Under the steering column there should be a black cable that connects to the ignition. Jiggle the cable (I pull it towards me) while trying to turn the key all the way back.

I haven't really had a look at mine, but it sounds and feels like the bolt is loose. Nothing serious.

Good luck! (If you do it enough, you can release it with your feet as well!)

Hi, I am unable to remove my key from the ignition after turning the vehicle off (in park). Also, sometimes the car won't start unless I play with the gear shift a little. Is there an adjustment I can make or is there something that I need to replace?

I removed the cover from the gear shift and found the cable. I was able to move the cable a little bit to be able to remove the key. The cable's end-piece spins freely, how do I adjust it?

Thanks again!
