Key stuck in ignition

My key will not turn to the off position and is stuck in the ignition/lock cylinder. The key will go to the accessory/2nd position and will go to the 3rd/start position. The car will drive fine but with the key not going back to the off position, the battery will die overnight. I replaced the interlock selenoid, but this did not help. Also, the gear shifter easily moves from gear to gear without pressing the button on the shifter or using the brake.

It sounds like the shifter itself has fallen apart I would take the console apart to inspect the mechanism. If you can't see anything try to find a used unit here are diagrams to help us with the repair. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.
