keeps burning up regulator in the alternator

I have a tbi chevy motor out of a 1990 chevy in my jeep. I am using the chevy alternator.the red wire is hooked up direct an the brown wire is hooked into the gauge fuze. but it keeps knocking out the regulator in the alternator

What's the symptom? How are you repairing it; with a replacement regulator or the entire generator? Are you using the '86 and older model or the '87 and newer pile? If this is the older "SI" generator, do you have a resistor or light bulb in series with the wire from the gauges fuse or did you run it directly from the fuse? What is happening to the regulators and how long does one take to fail
