Keep old car or get new one

I'm a 77 year old retiree who really doesn't drive much anymore, only about 1500 miles a year, but I do need a car. I've recently bought another new battery, new tires, new brakes, replaced sway bar links and bushings. My auto repairman says that even though the car doesn't have a lot of miles on it, the age is starting to take it's toll and I'll be putting more and more repairs in it. He said things are drying out and he saw a little rust when he replaced the links and bushings. Should I just go ahead and get a new car to avoid these coming repairs? A new one would probably be my last car and it shouldn't need any repairs for a number of years. At my age, I just hate the thought of getting stuck somewhere away from home or constantly taking it in for new repairs.
