Just before we bought it in 2015 the previous owner put a new transfer case and had the transmission rebuilt. we have put new brakes all around and the front passenger side caliper came off while driving it and gouged the rim so I put the spare on and fixed the other tire, but have not put it on yet. The three tires have the same tread and depth but the spare is brand new.

I have not, it started doing it after I put the spare on and was wondering if that could have been the reason.

on today's cars if the tire is a different size especially four wheel drive it will cause driving/handling problems. try the correct size or same as what other three are first.

It does sounds like the engine could be misfiring on the initial take off. When is the last time you had it tuned up?
