When i get to 1,500 RPMs about 45 MPH the car feels like it is jerking then after it shifts i don't feel it as much. I get a po989 code. I was told that i need a new transmission. I was wondering if my car has a tranny filter and if that would solve my problem.

Hi,

The code doesn't condemn the transmission. Actually, there is an issue with the transmission fluid pressure switch. The voltage is low.

I attached the diagnostics below, but you need a scan tool that can communicate with the TCM and actuate different solenoids.

As far as a filter, no. The service procedure is simply a drain and fill. See the last two pics below. If you want to drain and refill the transmission, I also recommend flushing the cooler lines.

Let me know if the tests are something you are able to perform the tests below.

Also, let me know if you have questions and what you find.

Take care,

Joe
