Oil Pressure Spec for '97 Jeep TJ (Wrangler) - 2.5 litre

This should be a fairly straight-forward question I believe. I have a...

1997 Jeep TJ (Wrangler)
2.5 liter 4 cylinder
~ 200,000 Kilometers

My engine is on it's way out (oil pressure is practically non-existent now). I am looking at replacing the engine because shop time to find and/or repair the problem would be equal to or greater than just getting a new engine and doing a re/re (mechanic's quote).

Mostly, I am curious...would it be recommended to replace with new, or used? The shop I have spoken with so far has found 2 different engines (used), both with different oil pressures.

I have looked all over the WWW to find manufacturer's oil specs for this particular 2.5 liter engine, but so far have been unsuccessful.

**If I could find out the spec for oil pressure @ idle and at higher RPM, it would be much appreciated. I could then compare these to the specs on the engines the local shop has found.**

While I'm at it...one other question:

Rather than sticking with the 2.5 liter engine, if I were to swap it for a 4.0 liter instead, would this be a major expense (comparatively speaking), or can it be easily done?

Why not treat yourself...buy a NEW jeep. If you can't your probably getting in over your head with a 200000km truck...This thing will nickle and dime you.
That said, you want an engine that has about 30 psi oil pressure with no smoking or rapping noises! If you want the 4.0 the least you need is the PCM and maybe a wiring harness. Tire sizes may be different, if so the anti-lock brakes will prevent you from doing it. If you have anti-lock! You will aslo need the larger radiator And maybe an upgraded brake system. I vote you just get the new Jeep!

I have a 1996 2.5L Cherokee (160,000) and I had my engine rebuilt about 15000 miles ago and I love the way it runs. I figured I spent about 1700 US dollars to have the engine taken out and rebuilt from crank up and put back in. The fuel I save compared to my friends 4.0L is worth the money I put into it alone. Plus you still have 4X4, good luck. :)

P.S good luck finding a good used engine, they all seem like they get burnt up around 150,000 miles. Probably the lack of power in the heavy jeeps lol.
