I have a 2009 Jeep Sahara 4 door 4x4. I was driving the other day in the snow and had the vehicle in 4 wheel drive. When I went to park, on drier pavement, I had to turn the wheel to the right tight to pull in. The vehicle came to an abrupt stop as if the brakes were applied. I had to really give it gas to get the car to move forward but it was obviously binding. I attempted in 2 wheel drive with no problem. It's done this a couple of times since. Is this normal?

What happens is when in 4 wheel drive the front wheels turn at the same speed. On dry pavement while turning the wheel on the inside turns faster than the outside wheel. This binds the front axle. You should never drive in 4x4 while on dry pavement because of this affect. Eventuallly you will bust a u joint or worse? Hope this helps Curt
