2001 Jeep Wrangler

Does the inlet and outlet on a new muffler have to be the same as the old muffler on the vehicle or can one be in the center like the old muffler and the other be offset to one side? Older exhaust inlet and outlet are both in the center

THey should be the same as the OEM muffler. If one is offset, it may cause the system to hit the frame or something else under the vehicle. NOTE: If you are able to install it with ease, it doesn't touch any of the parts under the car, and the parts store says it is for the vehicle, then you should be okay.
