ITs becoming harder and harder to put the Jeep in Reverse without it grinding. What is causing this problem? Not really a problem yet, but it seems to be getting worse. There is also a roring winding noise when I let off the clutch at take off. Its gettiing lowder and lowder. Can you tell me what this might be? Don't really know how to explain the noise at take off.

See my profile. Recent Posts, Me---CJ Guy, Have you checked fluids and/or changed them at the recommended intervals (IN TRANNY and TRANSFER CASE, ETC ETC)----AS PER---SCHEDULED MAINTENECE----Owners manual---OR---BETTER STILL: a "CHILTON" or "HAYNES" REPAIR MANUAL?

AFTERMARKET MANUALS HAVE SECTIONS ON:

Troubleshooting

Scheduled Maintenece

Owner "REPAIRS"

Step X Step "HOW TOs" ON ALL!

ARE AVAILIBLE FOR YOUR SPECIFIC YEAR and MODEL!

ABOUT $30

AS FOR ANOTHER POSSIBILITY, If your clutch DOES NOT start "DIS-ENGAGEMENT" Around an INCH or so down (in other words, engagement ocurrs low, "Free Pedal" the rest of the way up), It may need BLEEDING or ADJUSTMENT.

This too can be found in a MANUAL!

A MANUAL, Will be your best friend, sitting on the side of the road (If he is kept in your rig!)

I REBUILT THIS, FROM THE GROUND UP....USING....3 DIFFERENT MANUALS!

THEY HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL IN TEACHING ME ABOUT ALL OF MY JEEPS.

I STARTED OUT WITH A 1977 CJ 5, IN 1981 (owned 7, as pimary drivers, since)...AND A "CHILTON".

I NOW HAVE ABOUT 30 MANUALS! (Family's Rigs included)

I HAVE NOT VISITED A MECHANIC IN YEARS!

I will help you all I can, I do not have a manual on yours (I do not own one like yours!)

When you need an explanation about something in your NEW MANUAL, I can explain it to you in "Country-Boy Lingo"

I cannot write you a manual, But I will go way out of my way, to help someone who is helping themself!

I don't have a maual for this Jeep. Looked all over for it but it just wan't in the Jeep. I checked alll fluids and the clutch disengages high not low. Clutch is fine. I think maybe a sylenoid in the transmission? Could that be a possibilty?

Me--CJ GUY, I would think there might be some wires to tranny---Back-up lights for sure!

As far as anything else, I DO NOT KNOW, I would think speed sensors and such would come off of the Transfer Case. Again, I Do Not Know.

Manual would show all!

I would think a manual tranny, would be really similar to a CJ tranny.

I think we are looking at:

Low Fluid--checking right fill hole?

Fluid Right Level---other 1/2 below that is WATER--Change fluid

Wear on the Syncronizer Blocking Rings---will no longer stop gears so that the syncronizer can "scoot" into place.

"Hell" Damage---Not Hail Damage

ANYBODY ELSE IS WELCOME TO JUMP IN!

"bout all I can come up with, without a reference.
