Even though the temperature selection is set on cold, hot air comes out. This is a vehicle that does not have an a/c system.

There is what is called a blend door near the heater core. It opens and closed when you change the temp selector. Check it and make sure it is closing to stop air from passing over the heater core and into the vehicle.
