1997 Jeep Wrangler Smog Check

I bought this vehicle from New York and yes it has some rust issues but the main problem is that I took it to a smog station to get it registered and the technician said his computer couldnt communicate with the jeep is this an issue with this Model or make or is something really messed up

Go to a Jeep fealer and tell them, the 4 cylinder chysler products sometimes require a PCM reflash, or computer update!
