I was driving my Jeep and suddenly heard a strange rattling noise under the hood after about 5 minutes of driving. It stopped, then restarted about 1 mile later. I parked after about 10 minutes of driving and then suddenly, heard a "gush" of radiator fluid all over the engine, hood, and below. Prior to this, there were no signs of overheating. The leaking doesn't appear to be around the radiator, but from a more central location in the engine and also the reservoir was suddenly overflowing slightly as well. I haven't started it sense and currently can't get it to a garage. Any help is apprectiated!

Would a problem with the thermostat have made a strange rattling noise for 2-3 minutes prior to this happening?

If its overheating and the thermostat is shut closed not permitting coolant flow the engine will detonate/ping causing the rattling.
