Pulled up to gas pump had to back up to one behind me. Reversed, turned it off and got gas. Went to start it and nothing happened. It was running fine before.

A local mechanic said the key was no longer synced to the ignition. Does this sound right?

When you were trying to crank it over is the security light flashing? If so, I would try to reset the system. Remove the battery cable overnight and then reattach it. If that doesn't work, we need to run the codes, you can get a code scanner from Amazon for about $20.00.

Here is a guide/video to show you how:

Here is a scanner link:

You can try a hard reboot which is done by removing the negative side of the battery, with the cable loose from the negative side of the battery, hold it to the positive terminal for 1 minute this will discharge the memory capacitors in the BCM and PCM allowing the system to reboot.

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Hello, sorry for the delay in responding. The jeep was at a local mechanic and just was returned. The battery was drained, so once we charged it. Both of the suggestions were tried, and it still will not start.

All the lights work. Dash lights on. Windows work as well as horn

FOB was not working, changed batteries. All functions work. Lock, unlock, and alarm.

Ordering code reader as you suggested and will follow up when I get it.

Local mechanic said. To take it to the dealer to have it synced to FOB. I am hoping that will not be the case as of now.

If there are any other suggestions or information you can give or need, please let me know.

Thank you so much.

When you try to start the engine does the security light flash? If not, I have seen the TIPM module go out which is a big problem with Jeeps, it is easy to replace because it-self learns. Check the images below.
