When I start my jeep, and put it into gear, I can either mash the accelerator down, or ease it down, but it will only very gradually get up to speed. The motor does not rev up at this point, it just slowly starts moving down the road. Once I get up to speed I have to repeat the process if I come to a stop sign or red light. After 20 miles or so, the problem decreases, though even at its best, my vehicle is sluggish. Please help.

Has a check engine light come on? Have you checked to make sure the catylatic converter and fuel pump are working properly? Finally, which engine do you have? They didn't make a V12.
