2004 Jeep TJ Changing Differential oil

I notce than many shops (including dealerships) do not remove the differential covers when changing the differential fluid. I believe they pump out the old oil. would this be considered a shortcut and would it be likely to cause problems "down the road"? Please forgive the pun...

You'll be fine-I prefer that method it will sucked everything out and properly filled with the correct weight gear oil then to drain it and end up some debris will stay back-
