1998 Jeep TJ transmission noise

My 98 wrangler is making a loud klunking sound when I back up. There is a little noise in forword. But no klunking.

Try and get the rear wheels up in the air. BE CAREFUL use jack stands and ensure the vehicle is safely in the air. Have a friend help you and put it in reverse and then forward and listen to see where the noise is coming from. AGAIN be careful getting under a running vehicle. Just trying to get a better idea of where the noise might be coming from, Posty back when you have done this and maybe we can come up with a good answer to the problem. Thanks Curt
