Wife learning to drive stick shift. While learning in the parking lot, the jeep stopped going into gear after several attempts at driving. The engine runs but when pressing on clutch, the jeep will not go into first gear or any other gear. She did let up on the gas and the jeep jerked a lot one time but it kept working.

your shift linkage may be hung up you'll need to pull the shifter out to see if it is. then make sure it is ok. everything shold be lined up and it will be in neutral you can do it with a large screwdriver.

.WHEN TEACHING MY DAUGHTER HOW TO DRIVE AT AGE 8-10.....I FOUND THAT USING 4 LOW ON BACK COUNTRY ROADS WORKS THE BEST (EVEN IF YOU DON'T LOCK IN THE HUBS.....AND DON'T LOCK 'EM IN ON A HARD SURFACE)

THE CLUTCH IS VERY FORGIVING IN LOW RANGE AND SELDOM HAVE TO RE-START THE JEEP.......AFTER CLUTCHING IS MASTERED....GO BACK TO 2 HIGH

MY DAUGHTER HELPED ME RESTORE "WILLY" AT AGES 3 AND 4, MASTERED HIM AT AGE 10 (SHOWING OUT, USING THE HAND CRANK) HER BIRTHDAY IS THE HOOD NUMBERS
