i have a 1995 jeep grand cherokee laredo 4.0 with 176000 miles it gets warm and it feels like there is a restriction in the motor. It seems as though the catalytic is clogged but there is no catalytic,it has been removed.It backfires through the air intake carb,i guess that thats the name for it.Can you tell me where to start looking for the problem?

Are you sure the catalytic has been removed? It sounds like its cloged. These vehicals are made to run with them so without it would make the PCM mix the fuel/air ratio rich. Im guessing no catalytic = no O2 sensor, in that case? Im sure its there because no mechanic shop in their right might would take it off and leave it off. It would be the best place to start in order to determin what is really making it run weird. If you can get the codes from the computer it would help. Good luck.
